Meditation- What is it?
Meditation is an approach to train the incoherent mind, similar to the way fitness is an approach to train the body. It is really important to meditate, especially since we are living in a stressful and busy world. Our routine can be monotonous and we need to change it.
Types of Meditation
Concentration Meditation- helps to focus on one point.
Mindfulness Meditation- helps to observe wandering thoughts.
Walking meditation- helps in transforming negative thoughts into positive ones.
Benefits of Meditation
Controlling blood pressure by reducing strain on heart
Improved blood circulation
Lengthens attention span
Less perspiration
Improves emotional well-being
Less anxiety
Lower blood cortisol levels
More feelings and well-being
Less stress
Deeper relaxation
Simple Meditation technique
Sit or lie comfortably.
Close your eyes.
Make no effort to control the breath; simply breathe naturally.
Focus your attention on the breath and on how the body moves with each inhalation and exhalation.
Notice the movement of your body as you breathe. Observe your chest, shoulders, rib cage, and belly. Simply focus your attention on your breath without controlling its pace or intensity. If your mind wanders, return your focus to your breath.
