💀Global Climate Change- The Gradual Death of the Planet🤯
You all must have heard Greta Thunberg's famous and heart moving speech at the UN Climate Action Summit; the future of the planet is inevitable unless we all take a firm stand and take measures on a war-footing to save Mother Earth from the grim future of reality. Whether you like it or not: ecosystems are collapsing and people are dying from unimaginable and horrifying natural calamities due to CLIMATE CHANGE. Why do we want our future generations to suffer and bring about the death of mankind? Are we not kind, compassionate and caring as we have been known to be for centuries? How could we become so heartless? This is a global crisis and if not solved, there would be a mass extinction in a decade. Yes, the statistics proven by science and mathematics are horrifying. Nearly 600 different species become extinct every day. The Earth is choking with pollutants. The governments are only concerned about economic growth and development while turning a blind eye towards nature. How can we be so indifferent? If we don't live that long enough to enjoy the fruits of prosperity, science and technology, then what good will be this economic development? To power the world, power stations and factories bellow out billions of tonnes of sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, nitrous oxides, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and endless greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, thus making the human life difficult.
How things got Uglier?
So let's look at the whole process to understand the issue. All the greenhouse gases mentioned above deplete the ozone layer which is so very vital for the screening out of harmful UV(ultraviolet) rays from the Sun. Also, the greenhouse gases form a layer that traps some heat to keep the Earth reasonably warm and habitable. But the excess production of these greenhouse gases causes them to trap even more of the Sun's heat thus causing the Earth's surface to warm up at rapid rates leading to global warming. Experts in the field of Science has forecasted that the Earth could warm-up further and increase the temperature by 2-3 degrees which would be fatal for all living organisms- big and small- unless strong action is taken. Furthermore, this warming of the Earth's surface (known as global warming) causes the glaciers to melt that results in the seawater levels to rise and other problems as ensues: rising minimum and maximum temperatures rising sea levels higher ocean temperatures an increase in heavy precipitation (heavy rain and hail)shrinking glacier thawing permafrost increase in hunger and water crises, especially in developing countries health risks through rising air temperatures and heatwaves economic implications of dealing with secondary damage related to climate change increasing spread of pests and pathogens lost of biodiversity due to limited adaptability and adaptability speed of flora and fauna ocean acidification due to increased HCO3 concentrations in the water as a consequence of increased CO₂ concentrations need for adaptation in all areas (e.g. agriculture, forestry, energy, infrastructure, tourism, etc.)
Yes, the future is scary!!
How can we make a difference?
We all have a part in reducing our carbon footprints and we need to act now. Let's begin by planting more and more trees and supporting organisations that work towards the preservation and conservation of the environment to help provide sustainable development. Of course, we have reached a point where there is no turning back, but we can work to improve the current scenario. We must take the message to every doorstep, make the people responsible and encourage those who are striving to bring about a change.
Let's show the governments and officials that there would be no future for an economically developed nation unless we relentlessly push for change and make this planet a better place once again with ecological balance and growth.
I would like to conclude with a popular saying:'If there would be no flora and fauna on this planet, humans cannot survive. However, if there are no humans, the Earth can thrive.' That is our place on this planet.
Therefore, unless we all work hard for this cause which seems a distant dream at present, we cannot achieve our goal and would fail to survive let alone thrive in the future. Only when we care, there would be a change.🌺🥀🌼
